my account on github still enforces private/security controls. I am using https remote references, rather than ssh. For good measure, I checked in my ~/.ssh fonder. Nothing wrong there. I'm not storing the login details in ~/.gitconfig or individual <proj>/.git/config files. I'm also not storing anything github-related in ~/.netrc.
Jun 17, 2022 · It looks like the desktop app uses your default browsers cache to get the sign in information. I would recommend clearing your cache and cookies then closing all browser instances once that's done. (Make sure time range says all time if in chrome or edge) Make sure to be already signed out of the desktop app before doing this to avoid any cross caching.

Every time you try to clone or push it will try to use your old password. Follow these three steps to solve this: Generate a PAT (personal access token) - LINK. Open KeyChain Access (Via spotlight search) → search GitHub → click GitHub → change and save with your new PAT link. Try to push or clone again.
Oct 29, 2021 · Clone the GitHub Enterprise repo outside of vs code (ie, using git cli in a terminal or GitHub Desktop). In vs code, open the folder containing the cloned repo. And just like magic, it works. If you click on the source control tab in vs code, you can pull changes and make commits.
