Jan 1, 2021 · A couple of days ago my local Ducati dealer gave me an information pack on the Monsters and I looked up the prices on the 'net. From that information, the 796 is A$2,000 dearer, front and rear suspension are the same for both, 796 has a SSS, the 796 seat height is 800 mm Vs 770 for the 696 and the 796 is 2 Kg heavier, wheels and tyres are different.
Monster 900-2002 (sold, alive and well in the UK), 749R / 1100 HYM combo for track days, wifes / my Monster Dark 800-2003 (not entirely "Dark" anymore and a personal favourite) , 50% of 900SSie -2000 track bike for rainy days-now with tuned ST2 motor and Microtec ECU. Also parked due to having been T-boned on track.
Jan 1, 2021 · synced carbs: set idle to 1100. using emissions nipples: initially H-cyl pulled 7.5-7.75 in/hg vacuum and V-cyl pulled 8.5-8.75 in/hg vacuum. now dead even at 8.25 in/hg vacuum still idling at 1100. pilot screw adjustment: I initially had both screws set at 3.5 turns out, but it had a very slight miss at idle.

I guess you can say I'm lucky to live in the mountains of western Canada, great twisties. But when its -20 and snowing, Florida looks real good with flat straight roads.

You can check this yourself very easily by riding the bike in second gear at low speed somewhere away from traffic, pull in the clutch and hit the kill switch, then turn it back on, and let out ...

Re: Monster 1100 gliches and problems. i've noticed a few times that the bike falls dead on downshift. just shuts off like i hit the kill switch. i hit the starter button and it starts right back up. even bike is warm and has been running for at least 20 minutes. I've had this same thing happen to me.
