Feb 6, 2019 · The conventional langstroth hive has a solid bottom board and sure can collect water. To prevent that, I tilt my Langs forward so the water can run out the entrance, with a board under the back of the hive. I believe the bees will cope ok with water on the bottom, they are good at fanning and will likely use up the water for their needs. Aug 22, 2016 · So I’m new to bee keeping. I caught a swarm and got them into my hive before I was able to get tung oil on my hive. Is it ok for the bees to apply it while they are in the hive or is that a bad idea? Thanks, John

Boxes come in different depths and widths. The usual external measurements are: 10 frame (width x length ) 406mm x 508mm 8 frame (width x length ) 352mm x 508mm.
Sep 3, 2016 · I have just completed adapting a 7 frame Flow Super (ie. 10 frame Langstroth) to a Technoset Bee Langstroth hive. As the Technoset hive is already 10 frame Langstroth the sizing is correct but the placement of latches to fit the ‘system’ was the challenge. Apr 27, 2016 · Each hive now is configured so a double queen system is in place…and as many supers as possible are stacked on…the whole process takes two people about an hour and includes the application of oxalic acid impregnated “blue shop towels” for varroa mite control. Now there are only 9 hive units in the building.
Apr 13, 2022 · I am a new beekeeper (in US) who happily just took delivery of a Flow Hive 6. Looking forward to getting it built, finished, and my bees installed. The Hive will be the home of some packaged Italian Bees. My understanding is when you install a package you should add a feeder so they can begin to build their comb. I would like to add a top feeder and am looking for some recommendations on a top feeder set up? What setup would work in a 6 frame flowhive? Open to ideas that have worked for you....
