B.S. Medical College was established in 1956 by Bankura Sammilani Trust. The college was taken over by Government of West Bengal in 1961. MCI recognition for 100 MBBS seats was finally recognized in December 2005.
In the month of August, 1964, 131 bedded Bankura District Hospital was merged with the Bankura Sammilani Medical College. This college is a great example of self-sufficiency and co-operation and makes good status of Bankura in the field of Medical Education in India.
