  3. Oct 2, 2017 · I believe 6mm is too small. A 16mm cable will be ample for the required load and also satisfy Volt drop requirements. Literally, using 16mm will be energy saving as Energy lost through Volts dropped across the length of the cable run will be at a minimum. An armored 6mm cable direct in the ground is rated 44A.

I've. built a workshop/summerhouse at the bottom of my garden. I've run a 16mm 3 core armoured cable to it and done the necessary calcs regarding voltage drop.

  6. Feb 28, 2009 · Personally I would prefer to see a cable and know its there rather than discovering it after you have moved on with a spade when I want to remove the hedge for instance. There is also the cost of burying a cable to half a metre and back filling it with sand and ballast which by the sound of it maybe unneccesary. Its you're bill after all.

  7. May 23, 2019 · May 23, 2019. #9. There’s a diagram in the BBB somewhere showing the change in colours. Red turns to brown. Yellow turns to black. Blue turns to grey and. Black turns to blue. If you were using 3 core in old colours it would be line red, cpc yellow and neutral blue. Just follow the diagram and black and grey are cpc and neutral respectively.

If he is using a minimum of 16mm 3 core then he is ok regarding the minimum size assuming it is a 100A S.P. domestic supply. T.
