Sep 20, 2022 · Step 1. Click on your username in the top right of the screen, for the pop down. Navigate to "Store preferences" Step 2. Now under preferences scroll down to "CHAT FILTERING" then right beneath that is "LANGUAGE PREFERENCES" which you can just change to the 3rd option.
Apr 21, 2021 · I don't mind content coming censored initially, but it was kind of annoying that I couldn't easily disable it in Steam despite seemingly turning off all the options. If people want their content censored it's fine with me, but forcing my content to be censored annoys me.
Oct 24, 2020 · But for some absolutely crazy reason you are actually able to uncensor everything but it's stupid. In the depths of some forum on steam I found out you can turn off the filter by puttting " .* " into the "Never filter these words" list. not the quotations, just the period and the asterisk.
Oct 11, 2020 · Profanity filter always on, can't disable. I went to https://store.steampowered.com/account/preferences and set it to never filter anything, I have no custom words, etc. However in both the forums and profiles profanity is still filtered with hearts. I've tried turning it on then off again.
Aug 22, 2023 · I learned something new today that there is suddenly a distinction when adding custom words to the positive and negative word filters. Nope. Steam uses a dictionary rule set for most of the areas of the platform to smear profanity. Chat filtering is disabled in my settings, but this does not apply to comments.
So to completely disable the censor you go to Preferences from either your profile or store page, scroll down to where it says "Never filter these words" and in the text box you add: .*. That's: period asterisk. That's it. Now you can feel like an adult again!
Oct 8, 2020 · Steam filters profanity and slurs by default in both Steam chat and games that support the filter. If you want to disable Steam's chat filter, you can. You can even add your own personal list of words you want to filter. This setting is available on your Steam account preferences page.
The problem with censoring curse words is that eventually you come with cases like the color black ("negro") in spanish/portuguese, which apparently can be used as a derogatory term in english and thus get censored, leaving two languages unable to make references to a color.
May 18, 2017 · why are some words censored? like ♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥, ♥♥♥♥, etc. people can either guess what word is being censored from context, and some users work around the censor. words like that are also great at emphasing something.
Feb 26, 2023 · can't have steam stop censoring words. Error / Bug. I was messing with steams chat filtering settings and blocked the words "a", "and", and "so" because I thought it was funny. Now when I go to delete my custom words they always come back.
