What you are offering isn't a free alternative considering it doesn't offer what the OP wants - the functions of Wallpaper Engine. Continually acting like it does is actively annoying since you coupled your initial non-helpful post with an air of superiority by stating you don't understand how software like Wallpepr Engine is profitable.
Not exactly the same as wallpaper engine, but Lively Wallpaper (available in windows store and github, free) would probably have been my go-to wallpaper effects app if I didn't have wallpaper engine. I recommend the windows store app so it gets auto-updated.
Apr 29, 2023 · There is alternative software called Lively Wallpaper it's free and you can find it in Microsoft store. I haven't used it too much as i prefer wallpaper engine. Good luck bro.

Feb 10, 2020 · I did try to create my own wallpaper with importing a mp4 video. The video is just a FHD 17 secs 1.7MB size. When importing the video, it stucked at the Convert a video to a background live wallpaper screen - Generating 5 second preview video
dynamic wallpaper engine, not as optimized, still paid, but, its an alternative, I THINK!! not sure, just migrated to macos, not a fan boy, just wanted good battery life, but yeah dynamic wallpaper engine is an option, research on it though a little more than taking my words. its 4.99$

When using normal wallpapers the clock, battery etc color automatically adjusts to the wallpapers brightness. For example a bright Wallpaper turns the clock and stuff black. I have not gotten this to work with Wallpaper Engine. I want to use a bright Wallpaper, but the clock and stuff is still bright white and hard to see.
