  2. Sadako Yamamura is the character in the Japanese novels, mangas and films. In the Korean version she is called Park Eun-suh and in the American version she is called Samara Morgan. Obviously it’s different actresses, but the way I see it is both the American and Korean films are inspired by the character of Sadako.

Overall, all of the story's small and large details, like characteristics and cultural references, had to be altered in order to be fit for U.S. viewers.
