Mar 19, 2023 · I recently got a dm on disc asking if i got hacked on steam, I went over to check and saw nothing out of the usual but when I went to my Steam DMS, I saw there was one link that was sent saying "sup, gift steam $50 balance for you, just claim it" with a link of a supposedly link telling him to redeem it.

Please be aware that Steam Wallet Gift Cards can only be activated on Steam. The associated value can only be used to purchase products such as video games, in-game items, software, and hardware. If someone contacts you to pay them in Steam Wallet Gift Cards, you are most likely targeted in a scam.
Compromised account sending $50 "gifts" to people. The link seems to be legit but I'm not going to attempt to drill in more since, tired.

You may find that viruses and malware are spread by automated bots that send out countless requests hoping to get a positive return. Bots are also used in some of the other Steam scams listed above.
