Venkateshwara is known by many names such as, Srinivasa (in whom Lakshmi dwells), Narayana (The Primordial One), Perumal (the great lord), Malayappa (the lord of the Hill) and Govinda (Protector of Cows).
The Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple is an old temple built to worship the god Vishnu. It’s one of Singapore’s earliest religious monuments, whose history dates back to 1855. Originally known as the Narasinga Perumal Kovil, the temple was built by heads of the Hindu community.

Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple is one of the oldest Hindu temples in Singapore. It is located in the region of Small India on Serangun Road. This large temple complex dedicated to Vishnu was founded in 1855, but the 20-meter high Gopuram was established quite recently, in 1966.
