The Square Rigger is an extremely unusual pub, constructed a a replica of an eighteenth century ship of the line with a giant sail, a mast running through the middle of the pub, and two 'decks'. From the centre of the 'ship' you look out over the 'gunwhales' to murals of a distant sea coast.

Okay, so we told you to ignore The Shard – but this place is too nice to overlook. Sitting pretty on Level 52 of The Shard, Gong Bar offers panoramic views, a fancy cocktail list, and even a swimming pool (although you’ll need to be a hotel guest to use it) – the highest in Western Europe. 29. The Market Porter
The only thing busier than Borough Market is a Borough Market pub. The usual suspects can be found on tap at The Market Porter, but the buzzy market atmosphere makes it a popular choice for post-workdrinks. 9 Stoney Street, London, SE1 9AA.
30. The Wheatsheaf
For a rowdier atmosphere, The Wheatsheafis the place to be. we’re basing this on their own description, and the fact that their events section is simply called ‘Shenanigans’. They don’t take themselves too seriously, and we’re definitely into it. 6 Stoney Street, London, SE1 9AA.

- The Southwark Tavern. Since I meet friends here regularly, I’ll start my list of pubs in London Bridge with The Southwark Tavern. Right on the edge of Borough Market, this popular watering hole is said to sit on the site of a former debtors’ prison.
- The George Inn. Next on my list of London Bridge pubs is The George Inn. Dating back to the 17th century, it’s the only surviving galleried coaching inn in London.
- The Anchor Bankside. Right on the Thames, The Anchor Bankside is another of the best London Bridge pubs. This 18th-century number has a brick facade with red trim and a welcoming terrace right on the waterfront.
- The Woolpack Pub. Down on Bermondsey Street, The Woolpack is one of the most beloved London Bridge pubs. This local favorite is known for its ornate interior decor and big beer garden.
- The Horniman at Hays. Everyone knows that Britain is famous for its tea and its pubs – so a pub in an old tea warehouse is about as British as it gets. We’re talking about the Horniman at Hays, owned by Nicholson.
