- You make people feel understood. One of the hallmarks of a truly charismatic person, according to psychology, is the ability to make others feel understood.
- You make people feel special. One of my favorite things to see is the look on someone’s face when they realize they’re genuinely appreciated. I’ve always found that a simple compliment or a word of encouragement can light up a person’s day.
- You’re not always assertive. Contrary to popular belief, being charismatic doesn’t always mean being the loudest or most assertive person in the room.
- You’re authentically confident. There’s a reason why confidence is attractive. When you meet someone who is self-assured, comfortable in their own skin, and not afraid to show their true self, you can’t help but feel drawn to them.
- Self-awareness. Being self-aware enables people to play to their strengths and disguise their shortcomings. Self-awareness entails being aware of your inner experiences, such as thoughts and emotions, and how your presence and behavior affect other people.
- Warmth. Warmth is a critical charismatic personality trait. Warm people are usually approachable, understanding, and caring. Optimism and enthusiasm also convey warmth.
- Competence. A charismatic personality can also convey competence, a combination of power, capability, and intelligence. Competence is leadership ability.
- Relaxed and open body language. A charismatic personality typically displays relaxed and open body language. This inspires further trust and likeability, thus enhancing their charisma.
- You’re a good listener. Charisma isn’t all about being a smooth talker. In fact, one of the key signs of a naturally charismatic person is their ability to listen effectively.
