Jun 9, 2021 · You can only renew it online with a valid passport. If you have a passport, you can renew it by post and use the photo from that... You can also renew it by post sending in a new photo. It's all explained on the "other ways to apply" tab on the gov.uk renewal page.

Not only can they not renew their licence for free on line they have added costs going through any alternative system for renewal. MSE and AGEUK need to highlight this problem and get the Home Secretary to fix it.
Sep 21, 2019 · Just applied online, to renew my Photocard licence (you know, the one that was supposed to be free to renew for life :mad: ), and it says "Please cut your old driving licence in two and return it to: DVLA, Swansea SA99 1ZW ". Jan 30, 2024 · But what threw me was the fact that the D46P shows April this year as the renewal date, whereas my old licence expires today (30/1/24). This suggests to me that they are picking-up renewal dates from a simple list of birthdays, with no reference to the records bearing the licence term.
Feb 4, 2024 · The licence to drive is valid until you are 70, ( unless disqualified for any reason or have a medical condition that requires renewal more often ) what you renew is your photograph. which must be done every 10 years. Once you are 70 or over you have to renew your licence to drive every 3 years.
