For long documents, I have had good results by converting the output pdf to Word. There are quite a few pdf to Word converters.[Adobe Acrobat, online converters, of other freeware.] that work pretty well.
I've tried the following PDF to Word converters, but ALL of them deform, disfigure, and distort the math, the fonts, and the formatting: Zamzar.com, Wondershare PDF to Word Converter 4.0.1, Able2Doc PDF to Word Converter v7.0.34, and UniPDF.

Basically, you are confined to converting a basic text document. tex4ht does, in my experience, pretty much the same job as latex2rtf. As soon as you insert a little math and some tables, the result is hardly usable. freepdf does the job well - but it only converts 2 pdf pages for free. The name is a little misleading.

Oct 15, 2010 · The good news is that (a) for a Word conversion this is mostly irrelevant because other type of LaTeX constructs often cannot be exported to Word in any way. i.e., there are not a clear Word equivalent (b) statistical reports rarely need other special thing that tables and figures generated by R, i.e., the basic markdown structures plus R chunks are more than enough.

Step 1) Convert PDF to DOCX (MS Word) You can use pdf2docx or use the acrobat online service (if your doc is public) Step 2) Convert the DOCX to LaTeX with pandoc. pandoc -f docx -t latex --standalone -o converted.tex input.docx. Pandoc does not accept pdf as input and docx is a very rich format.
