A much bigger selection of games. These days there are launchers everywhere, consolidating as many of your games as possible on to 1 platform is the best thing you can do. Steam generally has the best new releases. EGS, on the other hand, often gets shitty cashgrabs and mediocre titles as exclusives.
It's not that Steam is the only place to go, it's that Epic is trying compete through bad decisions: exclusivity deals (something that shouldn't belong to PC gaming) and buying games and then removing them from other stores. Their launcher is objectively worse for quantity, lack of features, some privacy drama and so on.
