Igneel, being a Dragon King, is certainly stronger than the majority of dragons and faced much better chances against Acnologia than other dragons. I'm not sure how far along the mang you are, so my answer will be vague.
There’s no indication that prime Igneel was stronger than Acnologia. All Metalicana says is that Igneel used the last of his strength to deal Acnologia what damage he could. For all we know the Igneel we saw was him at full strength and it just ran out because he was already dead.
At Tartaros Igneel fought Acnologia at less than his full power. Yes, Acnologia was probably holding back, but could a full powered Igneel have fared better?
Mar 27, 2023 · Aside from the attack that ultimately killed him, the only time he was ever shown to be damaged was against Igneel, which was more about brute strength than anything else. Even if any of the Five Dragon Gods are physically stronger than Acnologia, all he would have had to do was fight smarter and avoid too many direct attacks.

Not too mention Igneel while weakend believed he could have defeated Acnologia, but underestimated him. The context that I read, seem to hint at Prime Igneel at the very least be Equal to acnologia in power.
