Generally speaking, I use GoG for items that are available there (since it's DRM-Free, no launcher needed), and Steam for items that are exclusive to Steam. Generally speaking the prices will be the same on both GoG & Steam anyway.

I'm aware that Steam's DRM can be circumvented, but GOG makes it so that you don't have to rely on cracking tools just to play games that you own a license to. Also, GOG doesn't have nearly the volume of games that Steam does. Most of my library is on Steam, but when I can get a GOG copy, I do. And like you said, storage is cheap.
Like most commenters here, I prefer GOG first and foremost because of its lack of DRM, but secondly to support market competition and weaken Steam's quasi-monopoly.
