Jan 14, 2023 · Avast/AVG is a good AV in terms of protection, but I'd suggest going for Kaspersky or Bitdefender instead. avast/avg: extremely high protection rates, some of the best i've ever seen. shady data practices and the programs can be slow and clunky. very invasive ads and scare tactics.

Bitdefender/ Kaspersky are the two most popular recommendations, while Trend Micro/ Webroot will be other 2 good options tho not many people talking about.

Personally it's saved me from a few malicious websites when I've gone looking for things I need, and there's 0 pop ups, ever. Definitely way better than Advanced Systemcare (fuck you iObit), and while Windows Defender works alright, I just forget it ...

It is safe, but there are much better alternatives, If you are looking for more protection features though, Avast One has a lot of them open for free.

It's likely done, so it gets picked up in web searches. Avast One is a noticeable upgrade over Avast Antivirus Free, with much stronger malware protection, far fewer popups and works without an account.
