May 28, 2019 · I am trying your recommended method to remove password protection from a .pdf. I DO have the password, and the .pdf is unlocked. When I go to TOOLS>Protect . . . all I can find at Protect is the option to 'add,' and then Adobe DC hangs up!! Did they change where to change password protection in Adobe DC?? Mar 18, 2015 · The person who created the file may have applied both a document open password, and a document permissions password (which prevents actions being taken on the PDF). If you have the passwords you need, and you have Acrobat, you should be able to turn off the security and save the file.

Mar 25, 2018 · Printing to PDF is not recommended. The results are often unsatisfactory. Of course Adobe doesn't support this way of removing security either - this should be done by entering the password in Acrobat's security properties. [Link removed.
May 8, 2019 · I saved the locked PDF file into a converted Microsoft Word document then a new PDF file from this Microsoft Word document so it did not have that padlock security password. You can print from the Microsoft Word document you exported or print from the PDF file you had just made from the new Microsoft Word document with no padlock security passcode.

Now that the pdf is completed, I need it to be accessible without password protection for all parties referencing it (company internal use), without compromising document integrity. Users must be able to review the document, and access links in the document.

If you are the owner of the PDF and have applied the security settings using the password, only you can make changes in the security settings and can change the password from File > Properties after you open the PDF, and click the Security tab in the Properties dialog box to change the security settings.
May 28, 2015 · A PDF document may have two passwords. 1. "Open password" is needed to open the file and view it. Security restrictions may apply. 2. "Permissions password" is needed to remove or change security. This is necessary, otherwise the security options on a password protected file (with open password) could be removed by anyone.
