Dec 15, 2014 · I wan't to check if they are used, without redeeming them to my account (not going to play them at all). Problem is, once I put the serial in the redeem dialog, it's linked to my account. AND, I can't redeem as gift, so I can't gift it as well...

If you contact Steam support and tell them you are trying to check if a CD key is valid, Steam Support can tell you if they're valid or not. Just tell them you're trying to give a key to a friend and don't want to risk giving them a used key or whatever.
Nov 23, 2017 · There is no system to determine if you have used a key or not. You can attempt to use the key and it will either add the game to your account or tell you that you already own that product.
Sep 3, 2014 · The only way to "check" a key is by trying to use it -- which will either tell you it's an invalid key, an already used one, or -- if neither of these -- it will redeem the key. But sure, send your keys to a "key checker". They will gladly take them.
I would think there’s a way to check if a key has been used or not by an Authenticator of some sort, if you have extra keys for example ones from humble bundle or a site similar, so you can check without having to redeem it.
