  5. Course Description. The course will run fully in the online mode on IIT Kanpur’s mooKIT web platform. All course material including video lectures and assignments will be uploaded weekly. You will go through the course material as per the weekly schedule given below.

  6. We will use Newtonian, Lagrangian, and Hamiltonian mechanics to model the motion of particles and the system of particles. In addition to the usefulness of these techniques in classical mechanics, they are essential to understanding the foundations of statistical and quantum mechanics.

  7. Online lectures will be uploaded each week. The weekly schedule will include one live Discussion Session (Friday, 11:00-11:50 hrs) to discuss any course related doubts, and one live Tutorial Session (Tuesday, 11:00-11:50 hrs) to learn problem-solving skills based on material covered in the previous few lectures.

  8. The course will be broken up broadly into three parts: (i) Statistical simulation in general, (ii) Some selective case studies and necessary statistical tools, (iii) Demonstration of the role of simulation in the context of case studies. Prerequisites.

  9. This course is relevant for undergraduate students of Electrical Engineering (typically in their third year). This course discusses various aspects involved in the modeling of power systems. Further, (one) typical steady-state, sub-transient and transient study of a power network are also discussed.
