Nov 4, 2016 · I don't know why there are 2 similar but separate clauses for rework and repair. What is the difference between rework and repair? Definitions in ISO 9001:2005: Rework - action on a nonconforming product to make it conform to the requirements. Repair - action on a nonconforming product to make it acceptable for the intended use.
Nov 12, 2010 · Since the auditor wants a definition of when the process ends and rework begins, I would suggest defining the process as above (spray, inspect, patch as needed). Rework could be defined as re-processing that is done after the part has been released for the next operation, or re-processing done on product returned from the customer.
Dec 9, 2010 · Therefore I would define: Rework - Action that brings the product back into drawing specifications, using previously and general approved methods. (i.e. previous approval was not a one-off e.g. a repair on a concession would be a one off approval as it is not valid for new cases).

The options to resolving non-conforming product, as far as the part is concerned, are 1) Destroy 2)Return to supplier 3)Rework 4)special disposition (use as is). Under most company quality systems, the last three are rarely recommended or used.

Dec 30, 2008 · Re: Rework Vs Repair Hopefully someone familiar with ISO 13485 will chime in on this. In the ISO 9001 environment, there is a clear distinction between repair and rework. Rework = Work done to correct defects that bring a product back into 100% conformance to requirements.

Mar 26, 2008 · There just has to evidence of approval and has to follow your documented procedure for NC Product. Within your own procedure, you should define what a rework is. The area where some companies have issues is that they do not document the determination of any adverse effect of the rework prior to performing the rework.
