  1. To sign up for Gmail, create a Google Account. You can use the username and password to sign in to Gmail and other Google products like YouTube, Google Play, and Google Drive.

  2. You don't need to have a Gmail address to create a Google Account. You can also use a non-Gmail email address to create one instead. To use an existing email address instead of a new Gmail address: Go to the Google Account Sign In page. Click Create account. From the drop down, select For my personal use.

  3. Work or school Google Account. You might have a Google Account that was set up through your work or school, a club, or maybe family or friends. This is often called a Google Workspace account.

  4. Open Gmail. At the top right, click Settings See all settings. In the General tab, scroll to Signature and click Create new. Name your signature, then click Create. This name is not your actual signature, but is a name for the signature template. In the text box at the right, add your signature text.

  5. Activate Gmail with Google Workspace (@your-company) After you sign up for Google Workspace and are ready to start using Gmail with your business address, make sure you complete these Gmail setup steps.

  6. Most Android devices have native, pre-installed email, contacts, and calendar apps. To access your work information in the apps, you do a one-time setup step to add your Google Workspace account to your device.

  7. Step 3: Start using your work apps. If you didn’t create a work profile, you can open an app and sign in using your Google Workspace account to access your work or school data.   9. You can create a Google Account for your child under 13 (or the applicable age in your country) and manage your child’s Google Account with Family Link. With a supervised Google Account, your child gets access to Google products like Search, Chrome, and Gmail. You can set up parental controls to help supervise them.
