Sir Charles Wilkins KH FRS (1749 – 13 May 1836) was an English typographer and Orientalist, and founding member of the Asiatic Society. He is notable as the first translator of the Bhagavad Gita into English.

Charles Wilkin’s original translation was entitled “Bhăgvăt-Gēētā, or Dialogues of Krĕĕshnă and Ărjŏŏn” and published in 1785. The footnotes in this edition were written by Gordon Wieland and were published to his blog “Gita Blog” in 2011.
