Like many of today’s popular MMORPGs, Lost Ark offers a massive world with countless environments and enemies to slay. It differs from similar games due to its old-school RPG mechanics and JRPG aesthetics that strongly make the game feel different from most western games. Combat is much like a modern take on Diablo II’s formula. In fact, even the l...

Borderlands is a first-person shooter franchise with lots and lots of loot. The original game took place on Pandora, a planet famous for its exotic alien technology often weaponized and sold to the highest bidder. Players take control of one of four Vault Hunters who are out to find some of the said alien loot as well as save Pandora from an evil c...

This is definitely the loot game to get if you want to play as a badass, walking skeleton. In Darksiders II, you’ll become Death and go on an epic adventure to save humanity from the end of time. The sequel to Darksiders has a few more mechanics than the original, but it is overall the same. Combat feels slightly different with the addition of new ...

Path of Exile is an online Action RPG set in a dark fantasy world that was known as “The New Diablo II” for a long time. However, it was not the first Diablo-like videogame to come up after Blizzard’s game became so popular. Still, it was one of the best games that felt like the classic dark fantasy of Diablo but provided a lot of value with its or...

Nioh is a fast-paced and exciting hack n’ slash game with beautiful graphics heavily inspired by Dark Souls in many aspects. Still, it has its own unique mechanics that keep it from being just a clone. You play as William Adams, a man who grows up in a small Irish village. At some point, William met a spirit called Saoirse, born from humans’ prayer...

Titan Quest is the game that paved the way for many Diablo-like action role-playing games. When it was released, the comparisons were unavoidable. The comparisons kept happening because it’s true — Titan Quest plays just like Diablo II, which you can’t really say it’s a bad thing. After all, Diablo II took what worked in its predecessor and improve...

Torchlight is another Diablo-like game, but I don’t say that as if it was a bad thing. The game was released in 2009 and is on its third installment. Although it might be similar to Blizzard’s IP in gameplay, it is a successful franchise with its own visual identity and a world that feels nothing like Diablo’s dark fantasy setting. Torchlight is a ...

Warframe is Digital Extremes’ 2013 free-to-play sci-fi shooter. This game was sometimes compared to Mass Effect due to its third-person perspective and how shooting felt when it first came out. However, it is nothing like Mass Effect. Warframe lets you choose from a roster of highly customizable characters and then jump into a third-person co-op sh...

Another Diablo-like game, Last Epoch, feels and looks more like Diablo than some other games with similar gameplay. However, this game isn’t a carbon copy, and it does have its own spin and original ideas. Last Epoch combines the classic dungeon crawling with time travel for endless replayability in this Action RPG. Besides, the robust character cu...

Chronicon is the epitome of similar but different. This is another game heavily inspired by Diablo and similar titles in many ways. Still, this is a game that looks completely different from what you’d expect from Diablo-like games. The campaign is relatively long. It has 5 large and varied acts that have different storylines, and you can do that w...

  4. I can recommend Last Epoch. A cool ARPG in the vein of Diablo and PoE with a unique skill system and a very satisfying loot system that allows for oth grinding and customization through crafting. Another recommended ARPG if you can accept the pixel graphics is Chronicon. Good loot, great replayability and grind friendly.
