May 2, 2022 · The original YIFY/YTS website was shut down by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) in 2015; however, numerous websites imitating the YIFY/YTS brand still receive a significant amount of traffic. The name "YIFY" is derived from the hebrew name of the website's New Zealand founder, Yiftach Swery.
Jul 27, 2021 · Nothing about YIFY is official anymore. YIFY retired in 2014 and the site was later renamed to YTS presumably under different administration. The official site went offline just a year later. Every YTS since then seems to be copycats. As a side note, YTS sold out some of its users to law enforcement.
It would take some crazy engineering to get a video file to be harmful or it would be a .exe disguised as a video or something (Christmas.Vacation.1989.1080p.BrRip.x264.YIFY.mkv.exe). For whatever source you use, just check the files, remove any .txt or .exe or anything that looks goofy and isn’t subs or .mp4/.mkv/etc and you will be just fine.

Jun 7, 2020 · YIFY torrents purposely make the files small, because demand for file size is high. That attracts all the low end seeders who have weak internets and limited bandwidth. YIFY deliberately puts 1080p or 720p as the header for the film.
Dec 21, 2022 · Officially speaking? None of them. YTS/Yify shut down years ago iirc. Anything up now is just a clone exploiting the popularity/name. I've started using yts.mx though and enjoy it. The uploads are usual yts/yify quality, and they also have a web streaming feature if you don't want to torrent. IIRC yts.mx only provides torrent files, not magnet ...
Aug 29, 2020 · The actual YTS/YIFY was shut down by the MPAA in 2015. Their most recent domain, yts(dot)to, now will redirect you to the MPAA’s website. YTS was an actual good site, but it hasn’t actually existed since 2015. The YTS we now know today is nothing but a mere imposter.
Nov 2, 2023 · Yify was the best for watching stuff on old ipods and music players. Any video looked good on my 5th gen ipod from 2005 (almost 20 years ago fml) because it only had a 2" 360x240 screen. Apple also gave out free episodes of tv shows on itunes, and I must have watched s1e1 of avatar the last airbender and the "game over" Ben 10 episode at least a few dozen times.
Jan 18, 2022 · Hi, I know Yify is not really everyone’s favourite site here but I need help. I had some issues with my browser and lost all my history. So, I can’t recall the address. There is this one yify site that I frequent and kinda like. The site looks kinda different than yts.mx or other similar sites.
