It started with a Qualis, onto the first generation Innova, then to a Corolla Altis and Finally ended up with a 2015 Toyota Camry. We need to fill the void which the Camry has left. Hence the need of this post to get the best possible insights in the Indian Car fraternity. I really like the Innova Hycross, for all its pros and cons.

Toyota Innova Hycross GXO CVT non-hybrid at 26.8L OTR, as well as a Punch EV Adventure 3.3 at 12.90L OTR. Toyota sales were quite strong with around 38K units of HYCROSS hybrid sold in 2023.

The suspension is well-tuned to provide a compliant ride. However, the car rides on 18" rims with 225/50 section tyres. While the width of the rubber is fine, the sidewalls are just too short.

The Innova Hycross is India's first mass-market people carrier to ditch the Diesel in favour of an all-gasoline line-up. With the price of Petrol at an eyewatering Rs 110 in most metro cities [2], it is no wonder why the lack of Diesel is raising many eyebrows.
My hybrid generally gives me around 5.5 liter/100KM in city. Can vary +/- 0.5 depending upon usage and road conditions, but roughly 5.5 is the overall average. At times it goes even below 5 (over 20KMPL). On highway, it drops by 0.5-1.5 (increase in L/100KM), again depending upon speeds, usage and traffic patterns.

Factors in favour of the Hybrid variant. In case the running is more than 15000 kms per year, then you save ~ INR 36000 per year in which case I will recommend using the Hybrid even for economical reasons. The higher life of brake pads since regen braking will drastically reduce the usage of actual brakes.
