Dec 29, 2018 · For now i'm working on big update of Tornado EOS, when I finish it, I do the free shutter counter reader programm, also i have working methods to enable / disable the BootDisk Flag over USB and Downgrade firmware so, I think I can do installations of Magic Lantern little easy, and able for users with cameras with newer firmware, like EOS 5D Mark III with firmware 1.3.5
Aug 12, 2022 · And even better - exiftool - for Linux or other command line interface you may be able to work in which is definitely free and can do everything you need. Just Google shutter count and the first website that pops up will do your shutter count for free, you just upload a file that came straight out of you camera.
Jan 3, 2024 · Non-professional Canon cameras have always been weird about giving you the shutter count, and even if you can find a method that works I wouldn't trust it. I once found a method that was able to report a count for my Rebel XS, but it claimed something ridiculous like 5k, and I had shot that much in the last week alone.

I hope Apple fixes the USB issue because I want to be able to use my cameras with my iPad. Thanks again everyone for your input.
May 21, 2023 · Tornado EOS for Windows (if you are able to fight your virus scanner about it). gphoto2 for Unix, Linux, macOS and other. Both require an USB connection. The image count is limited at 9999 and starts again at zero afterwards as far as I know. You could try one of the many online services to get the shutter count.
May 27, 2021 · For my 7D2, I used Tornado Shutter Counter v1.05. If you can get past the malware warnings your Window's anti-virus throws up, you will get a count. It felt accurate to me based on the # of files I still had on my hard drive. For my 5D3, I used Canon EOS Digital INFO v1.4 (with SDK v2.14) with no issues or malware warnings.
May 13, 2024 · On Windows, the Astro Photography Tool (https://www.astrophotography.app) should be able to read shutter count of a 6DII if you connect it via USB. Using the free Demo version works for this purpose. (E.g., when the APT is connected to my 7DII, the application log at the bottom shows a Shutter Counter.) May 14, 2024 at 02:20 AM.

Jan 20, 2022 · The program information listed under About seems to indicate that shutter counts are only available when the program is using the EDSDK v2.14, and not the newer EDSDK v3.5. I just connected my 5D3 to my copy of EOS DI v1.4.0.3 (EDSDK v2.14.0.3) and it was able to pull up the shutter count without issue.

Via USB: - Tornado EOS and the ability and will to fight against your virus scanner to run it. - Some computer running Linux, macOS or other Unix derivate.
