the download link on the official website brings you to an adfly page (which optifine used to get money) don't download anything off of the adfly just click the top right "SKIP AD". don't worry if a popup appears just close it. once you get past adfly click the blue text that says "Download Optifine Version ____" or something like that.
Jan 17, 2022 · Optifine gave me a Trojan virus. Went to the official optifine site. Clicked the download button. It took me to some sketchy ad site thing. I clicked off of it because it didn’t seem safe at all. Ran a virus scan and it said I had a Trojan dropper. Has this happened to anyone else. No. The official site is safe.
Oct 7, 2023 · if it is safe to download from anywhere else than https://optifine.net. Depends on how much you trust the website, but there's always a chance to get malware. If you want quick updates and better performance (especially with shaders), then use some modpack with sodium and iris, there are some for 1.20.2 already.
