Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), unofficially known as Mangalyaan [11] (Sanskrit: Maṅgala 'Mars', Yāna 'Craft, Vehicle'), [12] [13] was a space probe orbiting Mars since 24 September 2014. It was launched on 5 November 2013 by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The detectors being used in MENCA are Channel Electron Multiplier (CEM) and Faraday Cup (FC). A suitable combination of Radio Frequency and DC voltages are applied to the alternate pairs of quadrupole rods to accomplish the mass separation and thereby the determination of partial pressure of species.
Mangalyaan was India’s Mars orbiter that observed the planet from 2014 to 2022. The mission represented a leap for India in developing technologies to explore the inner solar system. Mangalyaan’s success as India’s first mission to another planet has inspired people across the country.
Mars Orbiter Mission Profile. The spacecraft is injected into an Elliptic Parking Orbit by the launcher. With six main engine burns, the spacecraft is gradually maneuvered into a departure hyperbolic trajectory with which it escapes from the Earth’s Sphere of Influence (SOI) with Earth’s orbital velocity + V boost.
