  5. Jan 8, 2023 · The Formula box in the dialog should default to = SUM (ABOVE) but you can enter that if it defaults to something else. Normally the formula will format the result the same as the entries in the column, but you can pick the dollar format from the dropdown of the Number format box if need be. Click OK.

Press Shift+F9 to display the field code. You should see something like { MERGEFIELD Amount \* MERGEFORMAT } where Amount is the name of the merge field. Change it to look like this:
