some of my word docs have a weird sign in front of the file name. It is a squiggley line followed by a dollar sign (~$). when i open the file a window comes up giving me three options one of which is "english - windows" I click on that and click ok and the document has a weird bunch of writing. thanks for any suggestions regarding this problem ...
Jul 16, 2013 · In your Word merged document, tap Alt+F9 to toggle between display field results and display field codes. You can then manually add formatting to the merge field (s) to look like, { MERGEFIELD myprice \# "$0.00" } With the cursor still inside the field, tap F9 to Update field then Alt+F9 to toggle back to display field results.

Jan 8, 2023 · The Formula box in the dialog should default to = SUM (ABOVE) but you can enter that if it defaults to something else. Normally the formula will format the result the same as the entries in the column, but you can pick the dollar format from the dropdown of the Number format box if need be. Click OK.

Oct 17, 2018 · I type a number in MS Word and I would like to show it as currency (i.e. split it in 3 digits with comma and place a currency sign.). I wonder if there is any shortcut to do this. For example, I type a number and then press the shortcut keys to format the number as currency (according to the format which has been in set in Settings/Region).
Apr 23, 2023 · Word ignores the number formatting of the Excel data source. You have to apply the formatting to the merge field in Word. Click in the 'problem' merge field. Press Shift+F9 to display the field code. You should see something like { MERGEFIELD Amount \* MERGEFORMAT } where Amount is the name of the merge field. Change it to look like this:
