Aug 7, 2013 · 1) Start a design with inch units as my preference setting. 2) Change the model units to mm. 3) Change the preference units to mm (not sure this makes a difference since it is for new designs) 4) Closed the model and opened. 5) RMB on the body and selected "Save as STL" Measuring still gave mm units . I checked the .STL model with Inventor.

Feb 15, 2018 · Yes, it is true you may need to create custom standards. Inventor is a mechanical design and manufacturing tool, driven by common standards (ANSI, ISO, DIN, JIS, GB, and so on). These mechanical design standards are either in mm or inch. "Meter" and "Centimeter" don't seem common in mechanical design.

Jul 26, 2016 · I had the same issue today, new part & new assembly defaulting to cm & kg instead of mm & g. Seems to have been since an update. I changed units in a new part & new assembly using 'Tools-Document Settings' then did a 'Save-as Template' & overwrote the Inventor default templates. Had to do this a few times before it stuck.
