Normally, the unit of measurement that you select at File > Options > Advanced ("Show measurements in units of") will apply to the ruler as well.

Jun 14, 2012 · The answer, in case there are others that don't know it: click on Control Panel \ clock language and regions \ change the date time or number format \ additional settings \ click on the down arrow uner 'measurement system' \ change metric to USA. and voila ... it is done. So nice to have my inches as I have been resorting to comparing ...
Dec 5, 2017 · Replied on December 6, 2017. I believe that the unit of measurement in Access is governed by the Windows regional setting, which you can change from Metric to US via Windows Control Panel. Note, however, that this will change the unit of measurement for the system as a whole.
Jul 4, 2015 · When I open the Size and Properties dialogue box, this is also using cm. My Ruler Units are set to Inches and work fine elsewhere such as column width and so forth. Can anyone tell me how to change the unit to inches please? Excel Options > Advanced > Ruler Units under Display (Below screenshot is from Excel 2013.
