I found that this option gets enabled in Performance options when you "adjust for best performance" and then when you go back to "adjust for best appearance" that particular option remains set, preventing you from changing your wallpaper from plain black.
Go to Personalize from the menu. If you already using a theme with a single wallpaper, select some themes with multiple wallpapers. For example, Microsoft’s Line and colors theme, and right after that switch back to the default theme. Close the Personalization window Your Desktop should turn black without showing any wallpaper on the screen.
Mar 24, 2023 · Just got a new PC a few days ago, and this very same issue popped up the morning after from its 1st shutdown the night prior. The only solution I see so far is extending one of the monitor displays & reverting it which causes the screen to go black for a moment. You're then able to pick a different wallpaper for the 2nd monitor.
I set the desktop wallpaper to my specific preference and after I restart my computer the desktop wallpaper is all black. This thread is locked. You can vote as helpful, but you cannot reply or subscribe to this thread.

Download the wallpaper again; Save it on C: Set it as wallpaper directly from Personalize > Browse (instead of Right Click on image > Set as desktop background) Now in Personalize screen, the correct wallpaper is showed (instead of a black screen), and the issue didn't happen yet for one hour
Aug 31, 2019 · Since recent Windows 10 update my screen backgrounds have all turned black instead of usual white. Can't see how to change this in Personalisation/Settings even after changing background from 'dark' to 'light' - I'm so angry their stupid software took in upon itself to alter how I'd set the laptop up :-(. Any advice gratefully received!
Mar 16, 2022 · After turning on my computer, after the latest update, the windows 11 background has completely disappeared - changed to black. I cant change this. In settings, if I click on background it comes up with related settings e.g. contrast and help. The option to change the background has completely disappeared. Any ideas?
Nov 14, 2018 · So i have a 144 hz monitor and a 60 hz monitor recently i had a few problems where the screen will go black and then back on and back to normal when ever i wake up my monitors. And like 1/10 times the background will get removed and the option reverts back to solid color.

Right-click on the Bing icon in the System Tray (Up arrow) on the taskbar You will see a short description or details of what the photo is. for example, it will tell you what type of animal it is or where a landscape was photographed.
