About The History Department. The department of History, Barasat College, launched its journey in 1988 as general subject with only two part time teachers. In 1989 a full time post was sanctioned and the department marched ahead for pretty long time as general subject only.
About The Bengali Department. The Bengali Department of Barasat College is a primordial one that startedfunctioning since 1988-89. The Honours course was introduced in the year2001. The department follows the CBCS system of education under the affiliation of West Bengal State University.
At the Chemistry Department, students are supposed to take courses in general and organic chemistry, as well as more specialized topics like Fortran Programing, Polymer chemistry, green chemistry, physical chemistry, and analytical chemistry.

The library of Barasat College is located on the 2nd floor of the main Building of the college. It consists of two dedicated wings- Library for Humanities and Sciences and the Library of Commerce. The library has a collection of more than 32,312 volumes of books and six titles of journals.
