Indrayani, known in Newari as Lunti Ajima, is one of the Astamatrika (The Eight Mother Goddesses). Her temple is down a short flight of stairs to the northwest of Bhaktapur Darbar. Less impressive than the Indrayani temples of Kathmandu or Kirtipur (I've added photos for comparison) but still a shakti pitha (place of cosmic power) worth visiting.

Just outside Durbar Sq, head down the path near the hiti that leads down the stairs to this atmospheric Kali temple that was built around a gnarled pipal tree. Blood flows on Saturdays with animal sacrifices. Suggest an edit to this attraction.

Indrayani Jatra is an annual celebration done at Kathmandu, Nepal. The festival is held for eight days every year, starting on Marga Krishna Ekadashi (late November). The festival is celebrated by both Buddhist and Hindu communities together.
