The VU Amsterdam is one of two large, publicly funded research universities in the city, the other being the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
VU Amsterdam is a free university with a campus in the Zuidas Knowledge District. It offers multidisciplinary education and research on four profile themes: Connected World, Governance for Society, Human Health and Life Sciences, and Science for Sustainability.
