The primary objective of the Department of Food and Civil Supplies is to ensure food security for the targeted beneficiaries through timely and efficient transportation and distribution of essential commodities. This involves supervision and monitoring of stock distribution and price levels of Food grains.
The National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA’2013) which aims to provide food and nutritional security at affordable prices to eligible beneficiaries was implemented in the State w.e.f. July’2016. Under the scheme, the erstwhile BPL &APL were amalgamated and termed as Priority Household (PHH).
