However, that depends on the thickness of the clear if it's worth the effort on a factory paint job, also the UV protection of the paint tends to to settle near the surface when it cures, leaving the paint vulnerable unless sealed regularly.

If you are unfamiliar with that, it's basically where you wet-sand out the orange peel, then use finer and finer sandpaper.

That being said, I am not a fan of the orange peel in 3M/Avery/Orcal's Gloss Black Vinyl and I'm having zero luck getting a quote on Inozetek's Gloss as it's pretty clear with hardly any orange peel in the finish, so I am leaning towards a Satin ...
Mar 11, 2019 · Well-Known Member. Soon after purchasing my truck I noticed a paint defect on the passenger side door. It is between the door handle and the window trim. Its really only noticeable when looking at the truck from a hard angle. If I didnt tell you it was there you would probably never know. The area is about 2"x1" and is underneath the clear coat.

Dec 2, 2019 · Its all in what one wants, I drove GMC, Ford, and Chevy before buying the RAM, since I will put 30-40k miles on one per year when using for work I wanted the best ride and drive, Ram was the winner hands down. As far as orange peel, I have never owned a truck of any brand that did not have it including a Ford Platinum and a GMC denali.
Dec 22, 2020 · This truck has a base price of $28,000. You can load it up with options, but it's more humble origins are there. Yep, pretty accurate and good points. Just because a Limited can touch almost $70k, the body and paint is not different then your base truck. Just more options and bells and whistles.

Was about 1/4” on my 4th gen without ram box and is 3/4” on my 5th gen without ram box. Unnecessarily large IMO. I think this due to how much the frame flexes on these trucks and the need to prevent tailgate to box contact during said flex.
