The University of Delhi started the south campus in 1973 as an effort to cope with its expansion. It moved to its present location on Benito Juarez Marg, near Dhaula Kuan, in 1984. Nearest Delhi Metro Station is Durgabai Deshmukh South Campus. The campus is spread across 28 hectares (69 acres).
