Baba Lokenath Brahmachari (31 August 1730 – 2 June 1890) was born as Lokenath Ghosal in Chaurasi Chakla, Barasat district, West Bengal, to Kamaladevi and Ramnarayan Ghosal. Later in life, he became known as Baba Lokenath. Lokenath means the Lord of Lokas (all the astral worlds) and the people who inhabit Earth.
About Baba Lokenath. Baba Lokenath Brahmachari was born as the fourth child, to Kamala Devi & Ramnarayan Ghosal (a devout lover of God), in 1730 in a village called Chakla in Barasat district, a few miles to the north of the city of Kolkata.
At the age of 10, Loknath's father approached Pandit Bhagavan Ganguly, a local yogi who worked as a householder, to become his son's teacher. Bhagavan Ganguly immediately recognized the spiritual potential of young Lokenath and the divine quality of discipline that was present at an early age.

Baba Loknath was all alone when he walked into the village of Daudkandi in Tripura, where, through his divine grace, he rescued a man called Dengu Karmakar from the clutches of death. Dengu instantly became an ardent devotee of Baba Loknath, and it was he who was responsible for bringing Baba to Baradi, which was Dengu's home.
Baba Lokenath lived his teachings. He was the living manifestation of a living Buddha whose very presence created vibrations of ultimate joy and whose words penetrated the very hearts of the seekers who came to learn at his lotus feet. His eternal promises bring to light his state of being one with the Divine.
Born in the year 1730, Sri Sri Lokenath Brahmachari was the fourth son of Ram Narayan Ghosal and Kamala Devi. Ram Narayan was a deeply religious person and had decided that his first-born son would be dedicated to the life of austerity.
