Taroko Gorge is Hualien’s prime attraction, and you really can’t miss it. Now, doing justice to Taroko Gorge really requires one full day, from early morning until late afternoon. However, since you’ll need 2-3 hours to get from Taipei to Hualien, there are different ways you could do this:

Mar 13, 2024 · Another option is to travel there on Day 1, spend the night, tour the gorge the whole following day, then move on to your next destination in the evening. Spending two nights in Hualien is better. This gives you a whole day to tour Taroko Gorge without having to take any trains on the same day. It will be less rushed and more enjoyable.
