David John Cawdell Irving (born 24 March 1938) is an English author who has written on the military and political history of World War II, especially Nazi Germany. He was found to be a Holocaust denier in a UK court in 2000 as a result of a failed libel case.

Feb 20, 2006 · Irving admitted he was wrong in claiming there were no Nazi gas chambers during the Second World War. He was sentenced to three years in prison in Austria in 2006 under a law that bans Holocaust denial.
Irving trial. In 2005, the British author and Holocaust denier David Irving was arrested for Holocaust denial in Austria. In early 2006, he was convicted and given a sentence of three years, of which he served 13 months after a reduction of his prison sentence.
