Tadaoto Kainosho (December 23, 1894 – June 16, 1978) was a Japanese actor and costume designer. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for his work in the jidaigeki film Ugetsu (1953).

KAINOSHO Tadaoto 1894-1978. A Japanese-style painter of the Kyoto circle and active chiefly in the National Creative Painting Association (the Koku-ten). In the orthodox in Kyoto, he painted many beauties with decadent and aesthetical feelings of the Taisho Period in the western realism earlier than anyone.
