While it is generally considered safe and effective, people who take it may experience mild side effects that typically pass within 24 hours.
The best emergency contraception (EC) for you depends on a few things: How long it’s been since you had unprotected sex — you have up to 5 days after unprotected sex to use emergency contraception. Plan B works better the sooner you take it. Plan B doesn’t work nearly as well after 3 days (72 hours).
