Sir William Timothy Gowers, FRS ( / ˈɡaʊ.ərz /; born 20 November 1963) [1] is a British mathematician. He is Professeur titulaire of the Combinatorics chair at the Collège de France, and director of research at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge.
In October 2020 I became a professor at the Collège de France. My official title is Professeur titulaire de la chaire Combinatoire, which translates as the holder of the combinatorics chair. Chairs are not fixed for all time, and this is the first time that there has been one in combinatorics.
