Christ's College, Canterbury is an independent Anglican secondary day and boarding school for boys, located in the city centre of Christchurch, New Zealand. Founded in 1850 by Reverend Henry Jacobs in Lyttelton as a school for early settlers, the college is the oldest independent school in the country. [2]

About us. History. Early days. Christ’s College was modelled on the English public schools, which many members of the Canterbury Association attended. The emphasis was on a classical education, including Greek and Latin, as well as Modern Languages, Mathematics, English, History and Geography.
