Panchanan Bhattacharya (Bengali: পঞ্চানন ভট্টাচার্য) (1853–1919) was a disciple of the Indian Yogi Lahiri Mahasaya. He was the first disciple to be authorized by Lahiri Mahasaya to initiate others into Kriya Yoga, and helped to spread Lahiri Mahasaya's teachings in Bengal through his Arya Mission Institution.
Thanks to Sri Prabhuji, I learned about Sri Sudhin Ray, who is an anacharya in the sampradaya of Sri Panchanan Bhattacharya, the chief disciple of Lahiri Baba. I met him in Uttarpara in 2016, when he gave diksha as it was done by Lahiri Baba(one on one using the particular, traditional method) and checked my performance of kriyas.
Rev. Yogacharya Shri Panchanan Bhattacharya (Chief Disciple of Rev. Yogiraj Shri Shyamacharan Lahiri ) founded The Aryya Mission Institution in 1886 in Kolkata, India. He was the first person Rev. Yogiraj Shyamacharan Lahiri permitted to initiate others into Kriya Yoga.
Panchanan Bhattacharya was the first of Yogiraj’s disciples to achieve self realization. As a deeply insightful and omniscient man, he was also the first whom Yogiraj permitted to give Kriya initiation.
