    Yuriko Koike (小池 百合子, Koike Yuriko, born 15 July 1952) is a Japanese politician, who has served as the Governor of Tokyo since 2016.     • Born in an affluent family, she was exposed to foreign culture at a young age. Ms Koike grew up in an upscale neighbourhood in the port city of Kobe. In the late Meiji era, her merchant grandfather founded a trading company in Seattle, the United States.
