Sofia Hultquist (born February 7, 1986) is an Italian composer and musician. Hultquist is best known for her band Drum & Lace and for co-scoring the fashion documentary The First Monday in May . She is also known to write music for soundscapes for fashion shows and presentations and is involved heavily in the fashion world.

Jun 3, 2024 · Sofia deglia Alessandri, aka Sofia Hultquist, who also records under the moniker Drum & Lace, is an Italian-born composer who earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the United States, and post-Covid shutdown, is now based in London. She has several media composition credits, including The First Monday in May, Rosaline, Cobweb, Red, White & Royal Blue, and the music for Season 4 of the podcast Serial. Sofia’s album of original works, titled ONDA, will be released in June of 2024.

When I was first approached for the series, alongside my co-composer Ian Hultquist, it really felt like the dream project. The series is also so stunning- the production design, costumes, makeup and everything is just so impeccable and historically accurate that it was fun to get to break that traditional look with contemporary electronic score.
